I Threw Away $10,000. ($10,365 to be exact)
“What did you do with the $10,000 check on the tea cart?”
My husband asked me this late this afternoon.
Ten thousand dollar check?
You mean that fake check from some marketing company that I threw away a few days ago?
Dear God. That check was real.
Yes. Yes. Seems when I was gone, my husband received a check for $10,365 from our son’s college fund. This was to be deposited and then distributed by mom and dad, us, to my son’s college.
Dear Heavenly Father. That check was real.
“I threw it away. I thought it was fake.”
“You thought it was what?”
What day is it?
After a quick calculation of when I could have found the check and garbage day, I determined it likely still with us —
albeit out in the driveway in a trash can.
Did I mention all the rain we had today?
Dear Jesus let the lid have been on the can. TIGHT.
When you are looking for $10,000 (that your husband left in a space he thought you would never find it) you don’t care if the trash is all over the drive.
You just pray to God you find it.
We found it.
My son leaving for college in the morning really is not that bad.
Not as bad as it could have been.
Have you ever lost anything that could have ruined your day…or your year?
Oh. My. Goodness. Jamie, can you imagine if it had been trash day? Holy cow. Talk about a rise in blood pressure!! I’m so glad you found it, and can send your son off to college (eek!) with some money. PHEW.
Wow. That would have terrified me. So glad you found it.
Yes and yes..Susi and Greta. That is all there is to day.
wow! So glad you found it! This makes me accidentally throwing away my office keys in the Wendy’s dumpster when I was 20 seem tame.
Oh my!
That is hilarious and heart-attack-worthy at the same time!
I’m so glad you found it, that could have put a real damper on things, probably would have taken weeks to get a new one issued!
Good luck for your son in college!
That totally sounds like something I would do!
Oh my goodness. Just. Oh my goodness.
(glad you found it!!!!)
That reminds me of the Grey’s Anatomy episodes where she leaves her $8.7 million check on the fridge and keeps dropping it in food. Stressed me out and that was just TV!
I am so glad you found it. Whew.
Oh my. I would have completely panicked!! I’m so glad you found it – and it wasn’t covered in anything gross 🙂
Oh dear — I’d definitely have been ripping up that trash as fast as possible, too. Once we threw away a check for $500 that was tucked into an envelope — we also ripped up the trash and found it. But it did make for a few minutes of panic…
OMG, I can’t even IMAGINE. I’ve thrown away some terrible things but yours takes the cake. PS, we have the same name, spelled the best way!
Yes, Jamie. Love your name. And we do spell it the same. Funny that the editor of my first official glossy magazine story had my byline as: Jaime Miles. Oh well.
Glory. My heart started racing reading this. Thank God you found it.
