Renovation diaries. Chapter 1,308.
Renovation goes and slow downs. One step forward two steps back — isn’t that what they say?
I pulled up after dropping the kids to school — on time — to see the Lowes truck in our yard.
That could only mean one thing.
APPLIANCES.
They brought in the cooktop and the range. Then after measuring, they needed to bring the refrigerator in through the front door.
And look.
It fits!
Things were really happening now.
Or were they?
Got back into our little apartment out back to see that husband had called.
Seems after leaving five messages for the counter top installation company — someone called him back and delivered the good news.
The earliest the counter tops could be installed was the third week of December.
“So I canceled the order,” he said.
What?
Well, after I talked him down off the ledge, hopefully, he’ll realize there is no way I could find someone, or pick out new counter tops and have them done any sooner. Or could I?
Not that I don’t understand his frustration.
I’m having to readjust my thinking. The last thing this little apartment needs is any more clutter.
And a tree and swags of twinkling lights and garland would definitely be classified as clutter in this small space.
So that’s my Monday so far.
I’m concentrating on the step forward. How about you?
Linking up with Linda for:
It will be beautiful and so worth it!!! After the kitchen is finished, come over and use my 1972 kitchen – you will really appreciate your new one, then!
This will be of great comfort to John as he is the one who will most miss our 70s kitchen.
I am in love with the color of your cabinets, such a bold statement which not many people could pull off. Of course you can my friend. I so hope your hubby called them back and decided to wait until the 3rd weed of December because I don’t think you could get them sooner, do you?

I LOVE the refrigerator and so do not envy you in the position of Waiting for Renovations. It just never happens on time…so frustrating! But in the end, it will be worth the wait:).
Yes, Tiffani. I did make him realize there is no way we could go anywhere else and get them picked out and installed any earlier. So we’ll see. hugs back.
It will be worth it Lisa. By Christmas — not so sure.
Love, love, love the floor! When we renovated our Queen Anne we refinished the floor as we tackled each room. I had a little celebratory ritual where I would lay on the floor and do an indoor snow angel while the room was still without furniture. Felt so good!
